“In His Presence…” is Karen’s first solo album as a singer/songwriter. Her pop style lends itself to the importance of the message she brings through the lyrics.

Her songs are biographical in nature and reflect her spiritual journey into the heart of God. “Songs of deliverance, songs of healing, songs of the Spirit” draw each individual into an encounter with God that is intimate, unique, specific and personal.

Her vision is to see people experience God’s liberating love so they can receive spiritual, emotional and physical healing.

Her desire is for people to know God is trustworthy. He has a plan and purpose for each one of us that answer’s the cry of every heart….”Why am I here?”

Karen is a living testimony of God’s faithfulness. He really does have a purpose and plan. Many trials brought her to a place of surrender where she echoes her desire to live as the Apostle Paul admonishes us,

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live,
but Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the
flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave
Himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

When Karen was 8 years old, she received Jesus Christ as Savior at a Billy Graham Crusade. This began a journey that would take her through many mountains and valleys along the way.

Music was always an important part of Karen’s life. Through her growing up years she was part of every music program in school and church. Eventually she received a degree in music and graduated with honors from Michigan State University.

After college, Karen’s desire was to combine her love of music and her love of God. So, she traveled several years in the U.S. and Europe, singing and sharing her faith on college and university campuses under the auspices of Campus Crusade For Christ. Television appearances in the U.S., Finland, Holland and Belgium followed, along with albums recorded in England and the U.S.

The next challenge was to pursue music and acting professionally. She performed in Nashville, Tennessee but eventually made her home in Los Angeles, California. She found opportunities to play leading roles in American musical classics such as Maria Von Trapp in “Sound Of Music”, Nellie Forbush in “South Pacific”, Luisa, in “The Fantasticks” and Sarah in “Company to name a few.

Karen traveled extensively across the U.S. as a singer with Perry Como and internationally with the Ray Conniff Singers. She also worked in the Los Angeles professional music scene as a studio singer on recordings, appearing on television and commercials.

Karen’s life took a dramatic turn when some personal challenges brought her to a place of surrender to God in such depth that it completely changed her direction and focus. A failed marriage plus looking to the world and its pleasures to ease the pain resulted in despair. When she cried out to God, breakthrough came. His unconditional love healed and restored her broken heart. God gave a new vision to use her voice to serve Him.

“I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me.
And heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible
pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock. And
established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth.
Praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and trust in the Lord.”
Psalm 40: 1-3

This new vision was revolutionary for Karen. The first evidence was writing songs, something she had not done before. Everything was to be guided and supported by the Holy Spirit. His peace would fill her voice, her songs and her words as she sings.

Through the years Karen has been involved with several ministries, such as Cleansing Stream Ministries, Youth With A Mission, Joy For Mourning and others. Her involvement at The Church On The Way in Van Nuys, California has not only shaped her walk with God but also allowed opportunity to minister to women, singles and the church as a whole in music ministry.

To sum it up, Karen says, “I’m a worshipper of God and I will always be a worshipper of God from now into eternity.” That’s her invitation to everyone who hears her music as well.
